A Nicki-Brno design chambered for the .380 ACP cartridge as the Armádni Pistole vz. 22 in 1922. In 1924, the Permanent Test Commission evaluated and approved a modified vz. 22 pistol designed by the staff at Brno as the vz. 24.
The Pistole vz. 24 (Pistol Model 24) was the standard Czech Army pistol of the inter-war period.
CZ 24 pistol's historical importance lies in its role as the first standard-issue service pistol for the army of the newly independent Czechoslovakia after World War I
The Czechoslovakian army officially adopted the vz. 24 (Model 24) in 1924, and by the end of 1929, it had accepted over 100,000 pistols for use by the military and gendarmerie
Its legacy was further cemented by its subsequent use by Nazi Germany during World War II
