- Barrel address and patent dates are legible
- Bluing on barrel and magazine tube have turned plum brown
- 15 round magazine tube
- Iron frame with side plates
- Total of 720,610 made between 1873-1919
- Known as the "Gun that won the west" and being made in 1878, this rifle helped with that
- Crescent butt plate with cleaning rod compartment door
- Bore has lands and grooves present, is dark, otherwise ok
- No caliber present on barrel due to the first caliber for this rifle
- Upper tang says Model 1873
- Has rear buckhorn sight
- Made in 1878
- Tang, lever, receiver, and side plates bluing has turned plum brown
- Action functions as should
- Blue remains on bullet loading gate
- This model was also famous for the Jimmy Stewart movie "Winchester 73"
- Forend has several long splits, butt stock appears in good condition with no splits or missing wood
